Red Velvet Cake

I love red velvet cake. Its one of my favorite desserts. The combination of cream cheese and cocoa powder gives it a unique flavor. The red food coloring is also optional. If you don’t want your cake to be red, you can make it as usual with no food coloring.I love the contrast between the soft, fluffy cake and the creamy, rich frosting on top with the faint tang of buttermilk that remains after baking. I prefer making it on a weekend, cutting the cake into small pieces and serving it with homemade vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

Rock Cake

It is a circular pastry made up of butter, sugar, flour and anise.The Rosca de Reyes features a small token in one of its parts. Whoever gets the cake with the small piece wins some sort of prize and it is popularly believed that whoever recieves this token will have good luck in the coming year.

I’ve made these cookies several times with my daughters and we have fun in preparing them. All you need is few ingredients and your imagination.

I can get the ingredients in my local store and I have fun in preparing them.
