Smashburger are a fairly new chain offering ‘smashed-to-order’ burgers with high quality ingredients and the promise of never serving any frozen food. History

This company was started in Denver, Colorado in 2007. It was started by Tom Ryan and Rick Schaden in conjunction with Consumer Capital Partners. The burger has always been a classic American favorite; however, over the years it’s reputation has slowly descended and it’s now known for being a lazy, greasy, unhealthy choice. Ryan and Schaden wanted to change this.

They tackled this problem by creating their burgers from 100% Angus beef, all made with their infamous smashing technique. This technique is based around the ‘Maillard Reaction’, which in layman’s terms means pressing down on the burger while it’s being cooked to create a whole different dimension of flavor. At each location you will find all natural, fresh, high quality ingredients and all items are made-to-order with an emphasis on local produce.

Smashburger has done extremely well. Within the short space of 9 years they now have over 300 restaurants in 32 states and 5 countries and they’re the continuing to expand. At the end of 2015 they opened their first drive through in Houston, Texas. They were also named as ‘America’s Most Promising Company’ by Forbes magazine.

By focusing on the quality of their menu items, Ryan and Schaden have created a very different burger to the one you’ll find at other fast food establishments.
