The busier people’s lives are, the more fast food becomes a convenience to take advantage of, even if the food isn’t always the healthiest. Although, these days, more restaurants are going the route of offering healthier options, which is good for all of us that need to fulfil those hunger pangs. For night owls, late night options are a must! Here are some favorite stops:
1. Taco Bell
Most are open 2-4 a.m., depending on where you live, and of course they have a full menu, including breakfast items! You can try some items on the $1 value menu, and they have a few lower calorie items, too, like a salad. My fave item: The Crunchwrap Supreme.
2. McDonald’s
Some are open 24 hours, and if not, most of the others have late hours, until 2 or 4 a.m. They also have a value menu, but not everything is $1. They have some heathier items, including some tasty salads. My fave item: McNuggets.
3. Sonic
Usually closes at 11 p.m. or Midnight. Offers a pretty vast menu, including specialized drinks (non-alcoholic) and an awesome dessert menu with tons of yummy things on it. They also have a nice selection on their value menu. My fave item: Bacon Double Cheeseburger…and tater tots.
4. Whataburger
This awesome chain hasn’t reached nationwide just yet, but most of the south has them, and they’re open 24 hours a day. They have tons of great food, including some healthier stuff on their “Lighter and Smaller” menu. My fave item: Breakfast Burritos…and onion rings.
5. Jack in the Box
Some locations are open 24 hours, and if not, they’re usually open il 2 or 4 a.m. They have a large variety on their menu, and they service breakfast all day, unlike some other chains. They even have tacos, which are really yummy! My fave item: Extreme Sausage Breakfast Sandwich.
6. Burger King
Most locations are open late, 11 p.m. or Midnight, but they also have some 24 hour locations. They have a great menu, including breakfast and a value menu, and some yummy dessert items, including some that have partnered with Cinnabon and have cinnamon rolls and/or bites! They have some heathier items, too. My fave item: The Whopper.
7. Wendy’s
They have late hours. Some close at 11 p.m. but some are open until 1 or 2 a.m. They’re the home of the famous Frosty, which is worth the drive-thru wait even when you have late-night hunger pangs. They have a great value menu and salads if you want to make a healthier choice. They even have baked potatoes and chili. My fave item: Homestyle Chicken Sandwich.
8. Steak & Shake
More of a sit-down place, but they’re in the fast food category, and they have late hours, but most only until Midnight. They have an awesome menu, and they’re known for their award-winning milkshakes. They have great burgers, too! They’re full service, but the wait isn’t usually long. My fave item: French Fries.
No matter where your late night hunger pangs lead, there are many choices of fast food restaurants that won’t leave you waiting or starving, or broke. They’re all pretty wallet friendly. I’m a fan of all the places listed, but which one I stop at depends on what my cravings demand. Usually, when it’s late night, I tend to want Taco Bell, and I love munching on a Crunchwrap Supreme, even at 3 a.m.
