History
Las Palapas was established in 1981, in San Antonio, Texas when founder Ron Acosta opened his first restaurant. The Acosta family kept running the restaurant a family affair when his four children joined him in the family business.
Currently, in 2018, there are thirteen locations that are owned and operated by the Acosta family. In 1991, corporate locations began closing on Sundays as a way to continue to provide kinship and stability to their employees by giving them a day to spend with their friends and family.
