History

Joseph Campisi purchased a “restobar” and established Texas’ first pizzeria in 1946. In 1950, he bought the “Egyptian Lounge” at Mockingbird Lane where he continued his pizza business.

Campisi’s have 11 locations throughout Texas. They received many national and local awards including the “One of the Best Pizzerias in America” award from Bon Appetit magazine.

Review

Their restaurants’ atmosphere is nostalgic and intimate which can be the perfect date spots. But, their lighting may be too dark especially for the elderly.

The quality of their food may vary from the different locations. But, their pizzas are often their most consistent dish in terms of taste quality.

They have a wide variety of Italian dishes which range from pizzas to pastas to special appetizers. But, I recommend you try their customizable Campisi’s Famous Pizza.

Their overall customer service is great and prompt. But, you’d need to wait during their peak hours especially on Sundays where their restaurants’ are packed with customers.
