Galia Melons

Adventurous eaters have found Galia melons to be a unique and delicious treat. The name comes from the Greek “galaktikon” and “arilos” (meaning “honeydew” and “apple, respectively), which were first recorded in Greece as a common land-fruit in the seventh century.

Today, Galia melons are grown mostly in Turkey, where they are considered a delicacy. Not everyone like I do my mouthwatering Galia! I use it in my fresh fruit salad, to instead of a berries and I like to use it as a garnish on an ice cream and also in my smoothies.

Green Apples

Green apples, or Granny Smith apples, are different from their red and yellow counterparts because they are picked when unripe. I love the bright color of green apples, but I also like them because they have a nice tart flavor.

They’re great for baking since they add a subtle apple taste to cakes and pies. I use them in my oatmeal and yogurt.

Guava

Guavas are sweet tropical fruits that grow in bunches. They come in a variety of colors, but the most common type is bright pink.

Guavas have a tart flavor and they’re not normally eaten raw. They have a waxy skin and are also harder to peel than other fruit, which makes them ideal as toppings over ice cream and yogurt. I have grown to love guava and I love to use it in drinks. If we’re having a party at home, I always make guava juice with my family.

Grapes

Grapes are a prized fruit because they can be eaten right off the vine, making them one of the easiest fruits to eat. Grapes are also very healthy for you and there are many different varieties.

They come in red, green, black and even purple! I like eating grapes on their own or adding them to salads. Eating grapes is not a cheap pleasure ; the most expensive variety cost up-to $10 per pound!

Grapefruit

People often think grapefruit are just oranges since they’re both fruit, but they are actually different. Orange is a big citrus fruit with round segments and grapefruit, on the other hand, has long segments.

Both are very juicy and have a tart flavor, but grapefruits also have white pith that is usually eaten as a snack. The skin is edible too! I like eating it in my breakfast smoothie as well as adding it to fruit salads.

Gooseberry

When you try gooseberry for the first time, you might think they taste like bubble gum! Growing up my mom would make us Gooseberry jam to be used on toast or as a snack on its own.

It is an antioxidant rich fruit that is full of vitamins, including A and C. Gooseberries are great to eat raw, in salads, or on oatmeal. They are found in Europe, North America and Asia.

Gorham Pear

The Gorham Pear is a smaller version of a pear. When purchasing this fruit, it is important to recognize the difference between pears and pears that are called “Gorham.” You can find dozens of different brands of Gorham Pears in grocery stores throughout the United States. One of my most favorite ways of eating a pear is in “Gorham Pear Waffles” made with flour and almond milk.

A popular snack food, Gorham Pears are also delicious when sprinkled with sugar on top and roasted in the oven or if you prefer they can be cooked as a dessert by adding sugar and cinnamon or even grape juice.

Gala Apples

Gala apples are one of my favorite fruits because they are sweet and juicy with a slight tang. A popular variety of Gala apples is Pink Lady, which comes in pink, red or yellow flesh. Brazil has two different varieties of Gala apples, one being the Stone God variety and the other being Brandywine. The flesh of these two varieties is not as red as most Gala apples, but still have a sweet flavor.

Gala apples are primarily grown in Russia, China, and Ukraine. I like to add this fruit to pancakes, salads and smoothies.

Golden Delicious Apple

Golden Delicious apples are my favorite producer of apples. They have a very crisp, juicy flesh and sweet flavor. Golden Delicious apples are very easy to peel and great for baking.

I use it in my oatmeal and yogurt, but I also like to add it to fruit salad. I have grown to love apples once I discovered the tasty things you can do with it!

Golden Apple Fruit

Golden Apple Fruit is a delicious, tart fruit containing pips which are translucent, yellow and very crispy. Golden Apple fruit has a sweet, spicy and fruity taste, making them a nice alternative to apples or peaches.

Golden Apple fruit is mainly grown in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia and Australia.

I prefer eating this fruit when they’re still ripe with their skin on because it’s easier to peel.

Grapples

Grapples are a yellow-fleshed, small, and sweet fruit that is sometimes called a “pearlike apple.” The Grapple is a small, round and slightly tart apple. This can be eaten raw or used in jellies, pies and even in applesauce!

I like to snack on these apples when they are still taking their time to ripen. Grapples are also excellent for juicing as well as making delicious homemade applesauce!

Greek Figs

Greek Figs are another popular fruit from Europe and I find them to be a nice replacement for apples or pears. They have a very sweet, slightly tart and tangy flavor that makes them unique.

The best time to eat these fruits is in their immature stages when they’re still green and juicy with their hard outer layer on their skin.

You can also buy them already ripe. I like eating them alone or in salads the most, but they can also be added to yogurt smoothies which would be quite nice

Governor’s Plums are also known as “Sharon Plums.” This fruit is a cross between two plums and they are primarily grown in Europe and the United States. They have a tart, juicy taste and attractive skin!

Governor’s plums should be eaten within a week of harvest. This can increase the amount of vitamins you consume from the fruit.

Goji Berries

Goji berries are one of my favorite fruits to eat. I have seen them called a “superfood” and I like to think of them that way! Goji berries have a sweet flavor, juicy texture, and an abundance of health benefits.

Goji berries are made in the shape of little beads and sold as dried fruit or in juice form. They also come in different colors, including red, yellow and even orange! Goji berries are commonly used as a spice for drinks and desserts but can also be eaten as part of a salad or smoothie .

Granny Smith Apple

The Granny Smith apple is an apple that is most commonly found in Australia. It’s a reddish-green fruit with a crisp, tart flavor. You often see the Granny Smith apple sold in stores during September and October or as a fall snack.

I tend to like to eat apples fresh since they’re also good to make into homemade applesauce and I also like to use them when I cook.

Green Anjou Pears

The Green Anjou Pear is an Asian pear with a tart flavor, thin and crunchy skin and juicy flesh. This pear is the most popular variety of the Asian pear and has a rich, brownish green skin.

I like to add this pear to my salads or on oatmeal as well. It’s also better when it’s still in its very crunchy stage so I just leave them out for a few days!

Grand Nain Banana

The Grand Nain banana is a soft yellow-fleshed banana with yellow skin. They are mostly grown in China, Australia and South Africa. The green-skinned Grand Nain banana is considered a luxury variety due to its high value and its rarity.

The most common way people consume this fruit is when they are cooked into fritters, or fried in oil!

Granadlila

Granadillas are small and green with a sweet taste. They’re an excellent fruit for salads, smoothies or curries. You can eat them raw or peel them and make them into jam.

The granadilla is native to South America and was named after the Granada province in Spain where it was believed to be found. It is a favorite fruit of mine because it also has great nutritional benefits!

Granny Smith Apple

The Granny Smith apple is an apple that is most commonly found in Australia. It’s a reddish-green fruit with a crisp, tart flavor.

It is also known as the “Berella,” “Brown Granny” and also known as the “Green Granny.” I like to eat apples fresh since they’re also good to make into homemade apple sauce and I also like to use them when I cook.

Golden Kiwi

Golden Kiwis are one of the most common fruits you can find in stores and they come in a variety of colors. They’re crisp, sweet, juicy and can be eaten alone or included in a fruit salad.

I like to add this fruit to my smoothies as well as homemade yogurt. I will often also eat them on their own because they are tasty to eat!

Grosella Negra

Grosella Negra is a black-colored berry that comes from the Grosella plant. They are commonly used to make jams and jellies.

The Grosella Negra has a tart taste and is available in South America as well as many countries in Africa. It is most commonly used in Mexican, Peruvian, Puerto Rican and Brazilian recipes.

I tried these berries as part of a dessert one time and they were awesome. They were also very sweet!
