Bob Evans is a country styled restaurant, offering casual dining. It serves home-style meals like eggs and bacon, steak, and pies. The food chain also offers various seasonal specials, like pumpkin pie. There are even options for those who are health conscious.  The food is prepared to order and is made from fresh ingredients.

In addition to ordering meals in store, people may place orders online. They may then pick up food from a Bob Evans close to them. Another feature offered is the store inside every restaurant. These may contain items like candies, Biscuit Mixes, and even toys. Bob Evan’s is headquartered in New Albany Ohio.

History

The company had its beginnings as a farm in Rio Grande, Ohio, founded by Bob Evan himself. Not too far from the farm was built truck stop diner of the same name in 1946. The restaurant served up its own sausage slaughtered and packaged by Bob. Various patrons of his diner felt the sausage had a superior taste. So eventually in 1962, Bob opened up the restaurant baring his own name.

The company was originally made for the sausage industry. Mr. Evans raised hogs on his farm, and used their meat to create sausages. He tried to use the best parts of the animal, like the ham and tenderloin. His food was so popular, that he was soon overwhelmed by orders. To help him package his orders, he partnered with his cousin Tim Evans of Evans Packing Co.

From there, the homegrown chain began to grow. Now there are over 600 operating in 19 states, with more locations popping up every year. Most locations are in the Midwest, Mid Atlantic, and South East parts of the United States, all around close to first restaurant. This locations are owned by the corporation, and not franchised.

Before he made his own restaurant, Mr. Evans wanted to sell sausage to local ones. They turned him down since they felt people wouldn’t pay for extra quality. They were wrong. His venture was a success. Eventually his expanded his sausage route, his farm held its first festival, and grew into the popular food chain of today.

Review

Bob Evans has a diverse variety of choices. Recommended food items include their steak, mashed potatoes, and corn bread. Their meals tend to be hearty and fulfilling. For instance, their mashed potatoes, which has a taste that’s creamy and bit buttery. They also have some very creative items, like the Macaroni and Cheese sandwich.

The restaurants ambiance is laid back, lazy. The seating invites conversations and is comfy. The hygiene is very good. Restrooms are clean, floors are cleaned up quickly, and tables are efficiently cleared. Displays for pies and various food and clean and tidy. Their bar is well kept and efficient. The service reflects the franchises easy going nature. Staff members tend to be very nice and courteous.

The meal prices are very reasonable. Averaging around $10.00 for something like a three course meal, like the Blackened USDA Choice Steak. Breakfast items average at about $9.00, like The Homestead Breakfast. There are some cheaper items, as the Mini Sampler at $5.00, and the Chicken-N-Noodles bowl at $4.00.

There are several restaurant locations. They are mainly located around Ohio, where the company was first born. The company site fortunately can tell you which location is closest to you. Waiting times tend to be long I the morning to afternoon but get better around 3PM but gets rushed again the dinner rush at around 6PM.
