A delightful eatery known as Mimi’s Cafe strives to bring French cuisine to the United States. A small chain restaurant, Mimi’s is known for its delectable homemade sauces and impressive wine collection. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, diners will surely find something to tease their palate.
Along with dine-in and to-go options, catering is on the menu to bring a taste of France to your next gathering. Gift cards and fundraising options are also available. Not to be outdone by larger chain restaurants, Mimi’s boasts a simple yet informative website including full menus, online ordering and of course, an e-club.
December 1978 is when the first Mimi’s Cafe opened its doors in Anaheim, California. This grand opening was manufactured by Arthur and Thomas Simms, Paul Kurz, and Brian Taylor. Arthur Simms was inspired by the beauty of France and local cuisine as well as a woman named Mimi that he met on his travels.
Acquired by Bob Evans Farms, Inc. in 2004 and finally Le Duff America in 2014, the restaurant has continued its focus on delivering French-inspired cuisine in an authentic setting. The bistro-type cafe boasts quality values such as passion, pride and possibility and strives to include these values in the food and atmosphere at each location.
Family values are important at Mimi’s Cafe, and Le Duff has not failed to continue this legacy since acquiring the small chain. Efforts are continuously focused on improving not only the quaint dining experience and splendid reputation of French-inspired cuisine, but also as a rewarding place of employment. Numerous career opportunities are available with multiple platforms in place for personal development and growth.
Since its inception in 1978, the restaurant now boasts over 145 locations in 24 states and continues to thrive over 3 decades of service. The headquarters are now located in Dallas, Texas after over 35 years of being stationed in California.
The menu offered at Mimi’s cafe is simple yet elegant French-American fare. Boasting ingredients sourced directly from France, diners can be sure that each plate is carefully crafted with quality in mind. Offering full breakfast, lunch, dinner and kid menus, one need not to worry about leaving hungry. Hours of operation are generally 7am-9pm, staying open one hour later on Friday and Saturday nights.
The chain is noted for its quality homemade sauces and baked goods. The muffins are by the most raved-about item on the menu of delectable bakery items. Giant waffles, authentic maple syrup, homemade quiches, and Rueben sandwiches are also among the crowd favorites. Prices are slightly above average for a chain-style casual restaurant with most menu choices ranging from $10-30.
A large collection of quality wines is always on the menu, available by the glass or bottle. Their wine list can be viewed on the website as well. Some locations also are proud to host wine and painting events, a sure crowd pleaser.
A clean, quaint Parisian bistro environment is what you get when walking through the cafe doors. French decor, detailed architecture and outdoor dining are a few things diners get to experience throughout their meal. Booths are available for larger parties and families. Wait times tend to be a bit on the slower side; however this does not seem to bother many repeat customers as the food quality and experience at Mimi’s Cafe is clearly worth the wait.
