History
The founder, Richard Macher, opened its first restaurant in 1978 at downtown Roanoke, Virginia.
They have also added locations in West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The restaurant received the platinum honor for having the best sandwiches in The Roanoker magazine’s 2011 Reader’s Choice Awards.
Review
Macado’s has a long bar and different seating set-ups depending if you are dining alone or with a group. Their décor gives off a nostalgic ambiance with every decorative piece that they have set up around the vicinity.
Not only do they serve deliciously great food, but they also have a wide selection of beers and other alcoholic drinks from their bar that certainly complements most of their main courses.
Besides their championed sandwiches, their boneless wings that are deep-fried and lightly battered are one the most sought-after dishes. The Rare Roast Rye is also recommended by most of their patrons.
They have a fun and attentive wait staff that’s really helpful from the seating and ordering down to getting your bill. Wait times are also manageable.
